Russian Meteor

This is not the asteroid that makes a close approach later today. It is not related to that asteroid.

It did not make a huge crater. Reports of damage seem to be due to the shock wave of the meteor.

On a typical day a foot-wide meteoroid will hit our atmosphere. During a typical year a 10 foot wide meteoroid one will hit our atmosphere. What is unusual is that we would have so much video of such a bright meteor.
