Coffee Rings
&
Gravitational Waves
9 May 2015
Those familiar stains on our coffee tables are always the same shape. What makes them a ring instead of a circle or random blob? Today we’ll talk with Dr. Kara Maki, an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the Rochester Institute of Technology. She’ll explain to us the physics of coffee rings. In the second half of our show we’ll talk about gravitational waves, and how they might be detected.
