Nanomaterials/Astrochemistry

In Podcast by Brian Koberlein2 Comments

Nanotechnology is a hot topic these days, but people have actually been using nanotech for thousands of years. For example, you can see nanoscale gold dust in the paintings of ancient artists. Today we’re talking with John-David Rocha, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Materials Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology. We’ll find out what’s so special about nanomaterials. In the second half of our show we’ll talk about astrochemistry, and how complex molecules can form in the cold depths of space.

  1. I liked how you both began geeking out about the spectroscopy techniques. Although I must admit, I got lost in the technical lingo pretty quickly. Remember that us without a PhD are still here listening

    1. Oh wow, thanks Arturo! Apologies for not seeing this sooner. I’m definitely working on developing the less jargony speak for things like this. Part of our goal is to be communicative with all our listeners… so please keep listening and KEEP PESTERING if we’re missing the mark!
